Spank Me is an 82-foot ex-racing yacht perfect for the young and young at heart! Usually catering to 18-35-year-old travellers, she sleeps 27 guests and 3 crew in open-plan bunk rooms. Prepare to discover a trove of natural treasures in the Whitsunday Islands aboard this exciting adventure as you walk stunning beaches and snorkel through vibrant reefs!
Spank Me has come a long way since her conception in 1989 at Fremantle, Western Australia. Originally named “Drumbeat”, her then owner, Alan Bond, entered her in 1989-1990 Sydney to Hobart where she survived the horrendous weather conditions and won the race. Unable to control his mounting financial problems, Bond sold the vessel to a New York real estate tycoon who competed her as “Congere” for the next decade out of the United States east coast. In the late 1990s, she was donated to the Naval Academy Sailing Foundation and used as a training vessel for young American Naval sailors. Brought out of retirement in 2001 by Spank Me Racing Corp, she acquired her current fun name and placed third in the 2002 Newport-Bermuda. OzSail brought her back to Australia in January of 2004 where she started her current career!
